Ryan Montgomery
GAME DESIGNER
SHORT SUMMARY
I am an aspiring Games Developer based in Cornwall, UK.
My hobbies consist of Gaming, Coastal walks, 3D Printing and electronics. My love for design could likely be traced back to the games that struck my heart when I was younger, the immersive worlds, character builds and rich lore set my young mind ablaze and lead me down the path of design.
Runescape, World of Warcraft, Zelda and The Elder Scrolls series are huge influences for me, demonstrating that games can go far beyond simply providing entertainment, paving the way for the incredible immersive worlds we see in modern games culture.
As a designer, my primary skills lie in technical and level design, concepting worlds and bringing them to life. I have got experience in a wide variety design areas, such as Narrative, Character, World, Mechanics and Quests with a intermediate level of experience in programming to create rapid prototypes of levels.
Alongside this I have worked on a technical level of balancing combat systems, skills, levelling systems.
When I'm not working as a game developer I like to tinker with an assortment of tech. Arduinos and raspberry Pi's currently find themselves at the heart of my personal projects.

As a designer I feel it is important to have a strong grasp on rapid prototyping when it comes to testing concepts. For all of my projects I have followed the workflow of concepting my ideas and then instantly white-boxing them out in engine, to see it in action and optimize the designs before pushing it to development.
