RAID NIGHT

ROLE

Multidisciplinary

Producer, Design, Programming

DESCRIPTION

Become the Raid Leader you've always wanted to be in Raid Night. Build up the strongest guild in the land and prepare to face the biggest bosses around in dungeons and raids!

Raid Night is a strategy management game which emulates the world of an MMORPG, inside of an immersive single player game. You will create and manage a guild of upto 40 players, gearing them up and setting their skills before embarking on an intense strategy based combat against monsters and bosses.

I was the core developer on this project, taking on the role of Producer, Designer, Programmer (front end). The art for the game was purchased via the asset store due to the tight-budget.

You can find out a bit more about my role in this below.

Although this game project has been discontinued, I will always value journey I took to and the skills I picked up along the way. I am more than happy to share content, documentation around this game.

MECHANICS

Guild Management

Real Time Strategy Combat

Manage a Guild of up to 40 unique members!

Each guild member will have their own gear and stats for you to manage and maintain overtime, making sure they have the best gear for their class, to optimize the true raiding experience and build the strongest team. Guild members will also have their own skill trees to customise in your own way.

Build the best raiding team around

Build a strong raiding team, making sure you have a true balance of Tank, Healers and Damage to ensure you can make it all the way through the wastelands! And this time it's your fault, not the healers!

Upgradeable Guild Hall

Build and Customise your own Guild Tavern. Train your troops, strategize for raids, craft legendary gear, but most of all - DRINK!

Alongside the relaxing management of your guild, Raid Night has an intense combat area when you step into the raids.

Manage your raid party in battlefield with our fast-paced strategy styled combat, making sure that you are not only keeping your team alive, but your moving them out of danger.

In-Battle you will be presented with your party and your skill bar, you must use these wisely throughout the raid to ensure your team can survive and defeat all 3 bosses.

Killing all the enemies along the way for the loot!

Emulation of real world interactions

We wanted to give that extra feeling that comes with Guild Management, not only ensuring you are the strongest, but your team behaves!  As an long-time MMORPG player, organising your raiding team and being cooperative was always the hardest part, and now you can suffer too!

Each Guildie will have it's own unique character profile with Traits, flaws and personality stats to really bring out that feeling of an online game.  This is anything from having strong internet or being unemployed all the way to having kids ("Sorry I can't play tonight") or a dial-up internet connection.

Each Guildie will also have their own schedule, only being online at certain hours & days due to their job, family or internet. They may even disconnect in the middle of a raid, but they'll return... maybe.

Finally, each Guildie will have a relationship with one and other. Some may prefer to play with others, some may refuse to join a raid party with others. Of course you can force them, but the healer wont heal them! They will also react to loot drops and what they get, being annoyed if they've not had an upgrade for a long time!

Wirehead Games

Who are we?

Wirehead Games ltd was the Games Company I had launched in 2019 as part of the incubation program at Launchpad (MA Entrepreneurship).  We had a focus on combining genres and creating immersive, unique experiences for the player, which lead us to our first title Raid Night.

When I first launched the company, I had taken on the role of Producer & Designer, alongside another Artist in the team. Sadly due to the pandemic the artist in the team had to leave and move back home to Greece, leaving myself.

Through this I had bought the game into a playable state and was ready to take it to conferences such as EGX, Develop etc, which were sadly cancelled due to the pandemic.  Sadly due to these events, I was no longer able to sustain the company and had to cancel production of the game.

This is now a side project I am planning to release for free, Currently in development.
